My Introduction to Avon as a Representative
Updated: May 21
Common misconception about Avon and being an Avon representative:
There are people that consider sales through Avon, or direct sales in general, as a "Pyramid Scheme," and coming from someone that has been with Avon for two years now, I am here to tell you that is not the case at all. First off, pyramid sales are highly illegal with discipline to come if they are discovered. What makes a sale a pyramid scheme, is when a company recruits' representatives or ambassadors on the promise of making money by recruiting others, and most of the time companies or businesses like these will also require fees to join then never pay up when they are supposed to which leads to the new representatives losing money. When it comes to Avon though, I did not pay to sign up, nor was I ever asked to put money in that I did not want to.
The major advantage for a representative!
When you are recruited as a representative for Avon, you become part of your recruiter's team of representatives! This is important to note because the company makes sure they have the money to pay the mentors, as well as anyone they bring onboard. Also, part of your mentor's job is making sure you are trained properly on the rules and regulations of becoming a successful partner of Avon; think of your mentor as your potential safety net should things go sideways with a client. When a new team member begins bringing in commission, the mentor also receives a portion for being a devoted team leader. Personally, I have only had to contact my mentor a few times, and that's because I can usually figure out minor issues on my own, but it is awful nice to know she is always there if I need her!
The brilliance behind this business model!
Avon holds the key to success in the fields' onboarding and mentoring processes for all of their new hires!
Mentors that bring others onboard, know successful tactics and are teaching them to others.
Mentors do not have to worry about stolen payments, because regardless of if they bring in regular commission or not, the company will pay them for their position anyway!
Hiring, training, supporting, and selling is done by THE people, for THE people!
Benefits of being an Avon team member:
In any given team, it's common for a new member to receive the support of the team lead and their spouse.
Avon businesses typically begin to thrive with size, so the bigger they are the more traffic they will gain.
The path to success begins with a mentor that drives their team in a positive way!
The Bottom Line
"The success of your business depends on the amount of effort YOU put in! No one else can, or will, do the work for you." Kristi Divin
